The entry of three splendid eighteenth-century clothing items into the collections of Palazzo Morando, the result of a donation from the Amichæ Association, offered the opportunity for a study of which the volume collects the first results. The acquisition of these dresses, preserved with loving care for generations by the Barberini family of Castiglione delle Stiviere, presents exceptional elements for the beauty, the brilliance of the silks and the perfect state of conservation of the individual pieces. Their study, together with a survey of 18th century clothes and accessories already owned by the Museum and little known - such as the collection of lace and shoes, documented here - enriches our knowledge of the customs and society of an era. which continues to exert a great fascination on our imagination.
