Published on occasion of the exhibition titled Miriam Cahn: Me As Happening. Publisher's description: Released on the occasion of Miriam Cahn’s first major solo exhibition in both North America and Denmark. Documenting an expansive constellation of Miriam Cahn’s work, this book includes the multi-faceted explorations of the artist, who examines some of the most critical issues of our time through a feminist lens. Uncompromising and confrontational, Cahn has conscientiously interrogated a series of themes throughout her career, including women’s rights, identity, sexuality, conflict, and space. Central to these themes is the position of women in society and their continued worldwide fight for basic rights and equality. Cahn draws from past and present experiences and observations, and she often revisits previous work to establish a dialogue between the personal, natural, and historical. More recently, Cahn has been contemplating contemporary migrations in which women and children find themselves especially vulnerable. Collected in this publication are reproductions of Cahn’s exhibitions at The Power Plant and the Kunsthal Charlottenborg, including paintings, drawings, text-based works, photographs, and videos. These images are paired with a foreword by the curator of the exhibition, Gaetane Verna, an interview with the artist by Henriette Bretton-Meyer, and essays by Aruna D’Souza, Roxane Gay, John Yau, and Amin Alsaden.
Subject Headings: Eastern and Western European Art ; Western Art -- Switzerland -- Post-1945 ; Post-1970 -- Drawings and Watercolors -- Women Artists --
