The exhibition features the Sallandrouze factory in Lamornaix. Deeply linked to the history of the Creuse territory and the town of Aubusson, the Sallandrouze family played a major role in the textile industry of the 19th century. This is the first time that an exhibition has been devoted to the factory and its productions, the history of which is still too little known. Presenting some forty works, the exhibition is organized chronologically, following the three successive directors of the factory: Jean Sallandrouze (1760-1826), his son, Charles Sallandrouze (1808-1867) and finally his grandson, Octave Sallandrouze (1834-1897). These three figures correspond to three periods for the company: its development at the beginning of the century, a golden age extending from the 1810s to the 1860s, followed by financial difficulties which led to the cessation of production in 1878.
