At the Royal Palace the Sicilian painter exhibits his works in an exhibition that tells the story of his entire career. The works of Marcello Lo Giudice are bearers of a message that does not end in itself, but that needs to be sought, understood, interpreted and, later, disclosed by the user. When you look at a work by Lo Giudice, you are disconcerted by the double dimension of these representations: observing one of his canvases you find yourself in front of, at the same time, the Earth and a second representation of the same, sharpened by the graininess of the pigments that recall their visual and tactile consistency: in this way the distance between material and conceptual is reduced. Marcello Lo Giudice can be defined, quoting the words of the French critic Pierre Restany, as a "telluric painter: colors, matter and lights blend together to create evocative remote geological landscapes where nature is represented as purity of the earth and energy of light. "The repeated interventions of the artist on the canvas contribute to the creation of this effect, in which colors, oils and pigments are spread in thick layers, overlapping, buried and recalled to the surface in multiple phases, often with the aid of scraping of spatulas, abrasions, removals and leveling.
