Publisher's description: This first monograph on Ei Arakawa is published subsequently to his institutional solo debut ‘Performance People’ at Kunstverein fur die Rheinlande und Westfalen, Dusseldorf and manifests the second part of a tripartite project that closes with the exhibition Ei Arakawa, curated by Jay Sanders, Artists Space, New York, Fall 2021. Beyond a documentation of the exhibition alone, the eponymous publication allows a profound understanding of Arakawa’s complex artistic practice in general: on behalf of illustrations, performance scripts, notes, and sketches it unfolds a kind of archive along the performances as well as the performance people the artist has worked with for nearly twenty years. With textual contributions by Eva Birkenstock, Sarah Chow, John Kelsey, Jutta Koether, Reiko Tomii, and an interview with Ei Arakawa by Erika Landstrom, ‘Performance People’ manifests the second part of a three-part project that concludes with an upcoming solo exhibition by the artist at New York’s Artists Space 2021.
Subject Headings: Western Art -- Japan ; United States -- Post-1945 ; Post-1970 ; Post-1990 ; Post-2000 -- Performance -- Other American Minority --
