The volume, edited by Marco Meneguzzo, presents a wide selection of works by Ivan Theimer (Olomouc, 1944), a sculptor who fled to France in 1968 and is now divided for work between Paris and Pietrasanta. Known above all for his ability to design highly emotional public monuments - the most important of which was created in Paris, in Champ de Mars, in memory of the bicentenary of the Declaration of Human Rights -, Theimer starts from a symbolic and figurative repertoire that it has its roots in the history of ancient art and in the archetypes of humanity, working with ways, materials and models that are opposed to the current artistic custom, that of Modernity. The numerous illustrations accompanying the volume are enriched by the photographs of Aurelio Amendola, testifying to the formidable impact capacity of Theimer's works created in the last two decades in various cities and squares in Italy.
