The publication, created on the occasion of the exhibition "Pianeta città. Arti cinema musica design nella Collezione Rota, 1900-2021", focuses on one of the rising themes of our civilization, that is the way that man has developed for his own life in common: the city. And it does so by referring in a special way to the privileged means of transmitting knowledge: the book. Above all, the rich collection of collections by the architect Italo Rota, one of the most famous designers of our time, offers a wide range of material for investigation and reflection. The intent is to create a tale of the twentieth century and the first twenty years of the new millennium through the interpretation of the city, its representation in visual expressions and the evolution of the book object. It is a project that arises from the encounter and dialogue between different skills, combining various knowledge and favoring explorations and discoveries. As curator Paolo Bolpagni writes, "a sort of archive of the visual imaginary linked to the urban dimension, unified by the aesthetic perspective". The volume includes texts by Paolo Bolpagni, Francesco Careri, Aldo Colonetti, Daniele Ietri, Franco La Cecla, Eleonora Mastropietro, Alessandro Romanini and Italo Rota.
Subject Headings: Eastern and Western European Art ; Western Art -- Italy -- 1900-1945 -- Graphic Arts (Prints) --
