The art treasure presented for the first time in this volume slumbered undetected in the depots of the Tyrolean state museums for almost 200 years. Well-known graphic collections usually keep their works laid out in passe-partouts, on which sometimes short, sometimes cryptic-looking notes can be found, in which art connoisseurs have left their suggestions for attribution. For the as yet unexplored Innsbruck holdings, such a scholarly discourse, which was often carried out on the passe-partouts for decades, was initiated in quick motion, so to speak. The publication brings together passe-partout notes received from experts from all over the world on the drawings presented to the public for the first time. An undisguised insight into the practice of expert judgment formation is offered.
Subject Headings: Eastern and Western European Art ; Western Art -- Germany -- 1400-1600 ; 1600-1800 -- Drawings and Watercolors --
