The retrospective exhibition traces the journey of a quest for identity and memory. Nearly 300 works from 1970 to 2015 are presented including many unpublished works as well as the film La memoire de mon pere. While revisiting his own work, the photographer, a member of the Magnum agency, takes a humanist look at the world inhabited by universal questions such as exile, disappearance and oblivion. Through the accompanying publication the photographer shows the different facets of French Judaism and brings together a dozen of his major series, some never published.
