This book that accompanies the exhibition that opens this fall at the José Guerrero Center in Granada, curated by Juan Álvarez Márquez, reveals an unpublished part of Gisèle Freund's personal collection: the portraits of Hispanic-American personalities, intellectuals, writers and artists . These photographs reveal the life itinerary of Gisèle Freund, from her beginnings in Paris, through her period of exile in Argentina, her stays in Uruguay, Chile and Mexico, until reaching her final stage back in Europe. In her passage through these places,Gisèle Freund made portraits of important personalities such as Julio Cortázar, Pablo Neruda, Nicolás Guillén, Octavio Paz, Alejo Carpentier, Vicente Huidobro, Jorge Luis Borges, Norah Borges, Eva Perón, Victoria and Angélica Ocampo, Roberto Matta, Frida Kahlo or Diego Rivera, among others. The book also includes an exhaustive essay signed by Juan Manuel Bonet and an interview between Juan Álvarez Márquez and Gisèle Freund during the last years of her life.
