Damiani Editore, Bologna, 2022.
192 pp. well illustrated (all col.). 31 x 24 cm. In English. Hardcover.
ISBN 9788862087629
This first monograph on the New York–based photographer Michael Hauptman (born 1984) presents a selection of his personal work exploring broad themes of nature, technology and the cosmos. Hauptman has made work for Beat, Dazed & Confused, i-D, The Last Magazine, Purple, the New York Times Style Magazine and other major publications. Despite the ostensibly documentary nature of his work, Hauptman often uses digital manipulation on his photographs, superimposing multiple images onto one another, altering a backdrop or placing a fuzzy glow around a subject to emphasize their figure, and to evoke mysteries of time and space. From travelogue photography to luminous landscapes and images of the moon, the photographs included in this volume reflect the breadth of Hauptman’s photographic vision.
Subject Headings: Western Art -- United States -- Post-1945 ; Post-1970 ; Post-1990 ; Post-2000 -- Photography --
Artist(s): Hauptman, Michael
