Swiss-binding. Publisher's description: The exhibition title «Hopesters» (composed of the terms «Hope» and «Hipster») refers to contradictory or fragile alliances in coping with the complexity of our present. The Haus am Lützowplatz is showing the works of the Swiss painter and installation artist Anna Meyer (born 1964) for the first time in Berlin. «Future Feminismus» is a pictorial history or mnemosyne of feminist art in the form of small studies on Plexiglas, which will be set up as a spatial installation hanging on nylon threads in the Haus am Lützowplatz. Representations of female bodies by male artists such as Rubens, Courbet or Lucian Freud collide with iconic self-images of women from recent art history, such as Lynda Benglis, Alice Neel, Marlene Haring, Birgit Jürgenssen, Maria Lassnig or Sylvia Sleigh. These juxtapositions of different perspectives are complemented by images of pop icons such as Courtney Love or Patti Smith as well as miniatures of the artist's own self-portraits from the 1990s.
Subject Headings: Eastern and Western European Art ; Western Art -- Switzerland -- Post-1945 ; Post-1970 ; Post-1990 ; Post-2000 -- Painting -- Women Artists --
