The Angevin artist Jules-Eugène Lenepveu is largely unknown to the general public. After several years of meticulous work, the teams of the Museum of Fine Arts of Angers present an exhibition dedicated to Jules-Eugène Lenepveu, draftsman and painter of history, but also author of large decorations, civil and religious. For this unprecedented exhibition, 260 works have been brought together, including drawings very rarely exhibited, thanks to loans from individuals and institutions. With this unprecedented exhibition, the public will discover the works of this artist still visible today in Angers. The artist painted religious scenes in the Sainte-Marie chapel of the University Hospital of Angers, and Angers also owes him the magnificent ceiling of the Grand Théâtre located on Place du Ralliement and a historical composition created for the museum. Nationally, he is known for having worked in national buildings in Paris (Louvre Museum, the Pantheon, the Paris Opera, etc.).
Subject Headings: Eastern and Western European Art ; Western Art -- France -- 1800-1900 -- Painting --
