Through a selection of nearly two hundred drawings, notebooks, watercolors and pastels from the collections of the Musée d'Orsay, the exhibition is an invitation to a poetic journey into the heart of the graphic arts of the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. Sheets by more than seventy artists, including Gustave Doré, Edgar Degas, Édouard Manet, Marie Bracquemond, Gustave Moreau, Odilon Redon, Paul Gauguin, Maurice Denis and Pierre Bonnard, are brought together and studied around five themes related to the imaginary and dreaming: “Behind the eyelids”, or inner gazes, “Dreamlike experiences of the landscape”; “By Monsters and Wonders”; “Through the pages” and “Music above all else”, or drawings inspired by music.
